Material

14k & 18k SOLID GOLD

The luxury metal that is generally used for all fine jewelry and high jewelry.  An ideal balance of 14k or 18k gold alloy gives perfect hardness and strength to be worn daily without distortion and gives the best results if the piece is set with precious gemstones. It is a perfect choice for our fine jewelry collections to enhance durability of the piece.

14k GOLD VERMEIL

Gold Vermeil is a high quality type of gold plating jewelry.
All Novella’s vermeil pieces are 14k gold with plating thickness of 2.5-3 microns over 925 sterling silver, which is 5 times thicker than regular gold plating jewelry. It prevents metal from tarnishing so that the color and shine can last.

Gold vermeil with thinner plating?

According to the regulations in US, a product must be at least 10k and 2.5 microns thick to be labeled as “vermeil jewelry”. Novella Finery accepts nothing less than 2.5 microns gold vermeil. We guarantee a 14k gold layer is thick enough to give longer lasting protection. Some countries accept lower quality standards for the label of “gold vermeil”, so beware if the plating thickness is not clearly specified.

Gold Vermeil VS Gold Plate

Gold-plated jewelry refers to jewelry with 0.5 microns thickness of plating and has no restriction for the base material. Low cost jewelry might contain nickel or other unknown material as the base, which might cause allergy to the wearer once the gold protection is worn off.
But for gold vermeil, with 5X thicker protections on top of purely 925 sterling silver, it is generally safer for sensitive skin.

FRESHWATER PEARL

Our freshwater pearls are genuine and natural. They are all chosen and matched by our in-house jeweller. Each is unique in shape, size and luster, which perfectly highlighted the special features of the jewelry piece.
There are a wide range of pearls that come in different qualities. No matter what shapes and sizes we use, our standard is to choose only pearls in good quality that would give the rich, bright luster.
